Rabbit and Hat Sewing Pattern 4323

Medieval Kirtle Dress

8 Skirt Gores

Includes pre-cut cloth pattern pieces for:

Gown front and back pieces

Gores

Sleeves

I've tried to make this as simple as possible and I'm making these the way I do it. And lets face... sewing is a passion and the easier it is to accomplish that, the easier life is and we don't get as frustrated.

I use actual fabric for my pattern pieces and each one will be pre-cut to the specific size chosen and labeled by piece. So no more excess tissue paper that you need to finagle with for hours just to get ready. All you'll need to do is pull out the individual pattern pieces, lay on your fabric of choice, and get started!!

3/8" seam allowance is included on all of my patterns.

This pattern takes 6.25 yards of fabric, and 6.25 yards of lining

(45" wide fabric)

I recommend a nice cotton / linen / or wool

(I used a lightweight cotton for the dress and lining, a more historically correct fabric would be linen or wool.)

MEASUREMENTS ARE FOR THE FINISHED GARMENT AFTER CONSTRUCTION.

This dress is meant to be worn tight. I recommend going by your bust measurement (maybe add an inch or two to be on the safe side) and adjusting the waist and hips at the side seam or the center seam if you have a large bustline. The curve of the center front seam is correct with the time period.

I referenced the 14th and 15th centry kirtle dresses to design this beautiful gown. The laces in the front are on a spiral loop. You can hand stitch your eyelets for a more time period look.  It is fully lined front top to bottom and the sleeves. You can adjust how you make it if you use a heavier weight fabric. If you have questions, I'm happy to help. I really enjoyed making this one!

Pattern includes and comes in a wonderful clear plastic resealable bag for storage because... this is how I store my patterns:
